{Cancer} can be a fatal disease, but may be cured if detected early enough. Look out for:

unexplained loss of weight
change in {bowel} habits
prolonged & recurrent blood in urine


recurrent headaches
bleeding or discharge from nipple
skin changes (be watchful of moles)
coughing up blood
persistent cough
indigestion, or difficulty swallowing


unexplained persistent tiredness
unexplained abdominal pain

Self-examination & screening (e.g. {pap} smear) are therefore vital. Other risks include:

excessive intake of alcohol
family history of {cancer}
smoking
sunbathing
diet ({fiber} reduces risk)
promiscuous sexual activity

Risk exists from unspecified viruses & chemicals in food, water & the environment. Without doubt, risk of {cancer} increases with age.
